When someone scans your pet's WAItag, they're asked whether they'd like to share their location. If they share it, you'll receive an SMS with a Google Maps link showing exactly where the scan happened. If they skip, you'll still receive an alert letting you know your pet's tag was scanned.

No. WAItag works entirely in the browser. The finder simply taps the NFC tag or scans the QR code and the pet's profile loads instantly, no downloads, no sign-up, nothing.
If the finder denies location sharing you'll still receive an SMS, it just won't contain a Google Maps link. The message will confirm your pet's tag was scanned so you know they've been found, even if you don't know the exact location. All scans are also logged in your portal.
The GPS comes from the finder's phone at the moment of scanning. Modern smartphones are accurate to within a few metres in open areas, though accuracy can vary in built-up areas. The link opens directly in Google Maps so you can navigate straight there.
Just make sure your phone number is saved in your WAItag account and you're on a Pro or Pro+ plan. That's it, alerts are on automatically for every scan.
